This rare bronze architectural fragment or wall plaque depicting King Louis XIV of France, the Sun King is made in raised relief, a likely part of a larger piece such as a mirror ornament, garniture clock, or architectural panel.
The reverse shows a rough-cast surface with multiple mounting posts and stamped assembly numbers, typical of 19th-century French foundry work. Originally gilded, the surface now reveals the bronze beneath. Likely from mid-19th century France.
