Agni, the elemental force of fire, is both destroyer and conduit carrying offerings from the earthly realm to the divine. As guardian of the southeast, his form is layered with symbolic detail.

In this depiction by Dr Vijay Siddaramappa Hagargundgi - he depicted with two heads for day and night, four horns for the Vedas, seven tongues and arms for cyclical time, and three legs for the seasons. In his many hands, he holds ritual and symbolic objects, while the ram, his vehicle, anchors the composition.

Like others in the series, this work was reimagined in textile during the Kaash Residency in 2023.

The Maker

THOT Collectibles

"Art and design are about emotions, and rarely about trends. If you feel a connection to something, pause. If it evokes joy, it’s meant for you."

-  Astha Khetan, Founder, The House of Things

To celebrate the launch of The House of Things Gallery, a group of 30+ eclectic visionaries from India and across the world created bespoke objects of design bringing alive their unique vision of ‘An Udaipur Sojourn’ as an ode to the heritage and artistry of the land. From art furniture and bespoke design objects to heritage textiles and sculptural lighting, each piece carries a story of modern luxury – whether it’s the precision of an artist’s handcraft or the brilliance of a finely-cut gemstone.
