“My goal with renovating the space was to make the area feel fresh and new, yet build

off of the existing warmth of the space to keep it cozy”, explains Shivani.

The living space effuses a warm glow that is brought alive by its neutral colours, contemporary furniture, the marble cladding in the offset pattern, and the textured wallpaper on the walls. Adorning the floors, the Statuario marble creates interest through monochromatic textures.

Adjoining the living room is the den which bears a character of its own. Complete with dark grey and blue walls and ceiling, complemented with deep coloured furniture, this room makes one want to cozy up with a good book and a glass of wine. One feature that stands out in this room is the hidden bar cabinet. Designed to be part of the library unit, it is covered with a sliding door finished in a black and white nature inspired custom wallpaper from Kalakaari Haath. Whether open or closed, the bar looks integrated in the library design.

Designed for an 8 year old girl and 10 year old boy, the kids’ room posed a unique challenge due to its limited space. With a priority on providing ample room for play and activities, Shivani crafted L-shaped beds against the wall, tailoring the surrounding areas to reflect each child’s personality. Set against a backdrop of crisp white and refreshing mint green, the room comes alive with the colourful array of books and toys cherished by the children.

Adjacent to the kids' space lies the grandmother’s room, where the aim was to create a serene, comfortable retreat. The standout features include a stunning Shibori weave fabric wallpaper adorning the bed's backdrop and natural sisal fibre carpeting adorning the wardrobes—a unique touch sourced from Bali. However, the pièce de résistance is undoubtedly the breath-taking turquoise blue and white bone inlay console. Customized to perfection, this console exudes timeless elegance and serves as the focal point of the room, adding a pop of colour to the neutral palette.

The master bedroom boasts a luxurious walk-in wardrobe with a colour palette dominated by soothing beige and dull gold. Exuding a sense of understated opulence, the standout feature of the room is the striking 8 foot high headboard, complemented by fluted wardrobes.

To enhance functionality and aesthetics, Shivani installed a smart glass partition between the bedroom and walk-in closet. With the ability to become opaque at the touch of a button, the glass creates a seamless and spacious feel when clear.

A stunning marble and brass inlay table complements one corner, adding sophistication and elegance to the space.

A WORD FROM OUR CLIENTS

“This was my first time dealing with The House of Things. I came across their Instagram page and website while doing research for this project and was so impressed with the variety and design choices available with them. My client and I were both in agreement that we should order majority of our furniture from them, as the designs and quality seemed top notch and the pricing too was competitive. The final pieces we received were just what we wanted and expected in terms of finish and quality. We even got one bone inlay chest of drawers customised, and it was a very smooth coordination with their team and the table turned out exactly as we asked for. The whole experience from placing the order to the on time delivery was very pleasant, because of which I have been ordering furniture, art and artefacts from them for all my projects since.”

“The House of things website seemed to have the maximum choice of ready furniture and decor. When we opened all our products upon delivery, we were very impressed with the packaging and finish. My favourite piece from everything we ordered is definitely the black and white bone inlay coffee table, it is definitely a conversation starter at my parties.”
