A tribute to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s belief in quiet discipline, the Kalam Rocking Chair is a limited-edition masterwork designed as a sanctuary for deep thought. Designed by Srikanth Varma, Founder & Principal Designer at Esvee Atelier, this sculptural "thinking chair" replaces soft upholstery with hand-carved solid timber contours, offering an intentional space for visionaries and readers.
Handcrafted from solid American oak, the rocker features a hand-sculpted saddle seat hollowed directly from wood. Engineered to support the body naturally, its contoured backrest and hand-shaped vertical spindles trace the spine's alignment, fostering an active sitting posture for contemplation.
The chair’s defining engineering feat lies in its sweeping arc base, which requires over 30 hours of hand-shaping to calibrate the glide's speed and rhythm. The rear runner tapers into an integrated stopper, keeping the gentle movement in perfect equilibrium.
Rooted in Esvee Atelier’s philosophy of "Conscious Minimalism," the wood is finished with plant-based, 0% VOC natural oils. This non-toxic treatment protects the wood while highlighting its organic grain, making the piece a prized heirloom for organic modern, minimalist, Japandi, and collector-grade interiors.
