The name Yana is inspired by a large monolithic rock found in the hills of Karnataka and represents the journey of life—a path of learning, growth, and discovery. Its rugged facade, etched with tales untold, casts intricate shadows against the sky.
Complementing our coffee table Yana I, this piece is an end table that is engraved with a detail of a map of the Bangalore and meticulously hand-inlaid in brass by our craftsmen in Mysore. The topography of Bangalore is a reminder of the city's ancient history. This sculpture table is a symbol of the city, in the natural landforms it takes its shape from.
The organic natural shape of the tabletop with the symmetry of turned wood is enhanced through the Japanese technique of Shou Sugi Ban that charrs the wood to create a deep black finish.
